As part of the L&D team, the Senior Instructional Designer plays a key role in the design and delivery of learning solutions for both field and corporate team members. This role focuses on strategic alignment with multiple business partners to design, develop, and deliver best in class learning and on-the-job support solutions. Through the application of cutting edge instructional methodologies, the Senior Instructional Designer identifies knowledge and training gaps, applies technical and theoretical skill to determine appropriate education approaches and plan, develop, implement, and maintain all training materials, including online (eLearning) and written formats.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Estimated % of Time Spent
- Solve for Departmental Training Needs
Solve for learning needs and performance gaps for field and corporate team member training by determining and recommending instructional standards, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation methods.
Apply adult learning theory to the design and development of high quality, integrated learning solutions that create measurable organizational impact, including instructor-led or blended training programs as well as digital learning solutions that are adaptable for the enterprise.
Collaborate with department Subject Matter Experts to identify and analyze performance and development gaps in their department.
Ensure training activities are aligned with the company mission, vision, values, business process, and overall company strategies.
Build and maintain effective relationships with corporate and field business partners.
Make solid decisions by identifying and diagnosing issues, generating alternative solutions, and analyzing related opportunities and risks.
Maintain close contact with training end users to assess effectiveness of training content and materials. 45%
- Program and Project Management
Plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of specific learning projects.
In partnership with the business, ensure the scope and direction of each learning project is defined and remains on schedule.
Design and develop learning content including (but not limited to) measurable learning objectives, facilitator and participant materials/tools, experiential scenarios and simulations, and assessment and evaluation strategies.
Ensure the quality and consistency of course content throughout a course life cycle.
Act as an advisor to the broader team in developing and implementing advanced templates and learning methodologies.
Develop and maintain consistent adherence to training formats and tools.
Basic system administration of the Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other Learning & Development (L&D) tools (document repository, other collaborative software). 45%

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development, Education Tech, Instructional/Learning Design, or other related field OR equivalent post-grad work experience.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
- At least 3 years' experience in training and development, including areas such as learning technology, instructional design, course development, vendor management, and management of outsourced services.
- Local and domestic travel up to 15% of the time is required.
