Reporting to the Sr. Director, Strategic Operations, the Manager, Strategic Operations will be responsible for the successful scaling and execution of strategic implementations impacting the field. This role will help simplify and implement roll-out plans through direct interaction with the field, enabling high levels of field execution by leveraging a comprehensive knowledge of field day to day operations and processes, as well as a strong organizational knowledge. Success in this role will require the ability to collaborate with field leaders from the RVP level to club level management as a subject matter expert in how the project impacts the clubs and how to successfully integrate the program into club success routines and process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Field Support and Execution

  • Facilitate the club use of new technologies, processes, and/or practices that align with pilots or roll-outs that implement company strategies.

  • Partner with operations leadership to understand and support strategic priorities for the field group, and analyze business problems to develop insights into root causes and improvement opportunities

  • Provide strategic and operational support to club and field leadership by developing the club team, including club visits, training and effective communication

  • Recommend operational efficiencies to improve execution and expense control based on expertise, field feedback and results; implement efficiencies as appropriate.

  • Develop documentation for the existing processes and areas of improvement

  • Perform project management tasks as needed for new club openings

  • Act as a liaison to ensure club staff is informed of new practices/processes and have received appropriate training to implement roll-outs.

Strategic Operations

  • Provide input and perspective on field strategy and tactics

  • Communicate new information pertaining to programs, systems, and promotions through all channels i.e. e-mail, CORE, My24, and SIMON (internal website pages)

  • Provide input intothe development of communication and training materials for all program or system rollouts. Facilitate workshops to support the training required for these rollouts

  • Perform analysis of pilot/roll-out effectiveness from financial, process, and people perspectives and make recommendation for improvement.

Organizational Relationships

The Manager, Strategic Operations may be responsible for supporting or leading cross-functional project teams, and interacts with club and corporate team members on a regular basis. This position manages business relationships with other departments, including but not limited to IT, Financial Planning and Analysis, Marketing, HRSS, HR, Payroll, Comp, Legal, Loss Prevention, Learning & Development, Retail, Real Estate and Facilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and communication skills. Able to articulate both strategic direction and tactical action steps to all levels of the organization

  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills required

  • Experience in managing multi-unit operations and understands the complexities with scaling new process

  • Collaborative, positive, "service-oriented" attitude

  • Ability to multi-task and manage teams on multiple projects.

  • Excellent time management skills and sensitivity to deadlines.

  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change

  • Experience in retail and/or service businesses desired

  • Demonstrate strong analytical, conceptual, creative, and practical problem solving skills

  • Proven success in planning and attaining results and delivering business objectives

Minimum Educational Level/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field preferred

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a multi-unit field management role

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Operations management

  • 2+ years of experience in project management, or operating a club facility in a general manager level role

  • 3+ years in the fitness or health and wellness industry

Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions

  • Some work is performed in a standard office environment without unpleasant or hazardous conditions. Work entails typical physical demands involved in office work.

  • Regularly required to work standard office equipment (personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).

  • Ability to work on a computer up to 7 hours a day.

  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk

Travel Requirement

  • Travel to clubs and regional offices, up to 75% of the time.
