The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Buyers and support staff within the Procurement Department. This includes, hiring, training, coaching, performance reviews, and tracking key performance indicators. Also, this position will identify process improvement opportunities for the team to work on to reduce cycle time & improve performance. Setting quality standards to obtain the lowest possible TCO, support development of best-in-class contracts and agreements, ensure SOX compliance standards are being adhered to in PTP process, and finding the best suppliers and partners for 24 Hour Fitness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES Estimated % of Time Spent
- Manage the daily operations of the Procurement Buyers
Ensure quality purchase orders are issued and match exceptions are resolved in a timely manner.
Hire the "right" people.
Train Buyers on the end-to-end PTP process and SOX compliance.
Coach and develop staff to ensure their ongoing development.
Complete annual performance reviews.
Track individual Buyer and departmental KPIs monthly.

Reward and recognize staff successes, as well as value-adding team efforts. 35%
- Develop and Improve Processes
Challenge the status quo and take risks to transition average/good processes into great processes.
Identify areas of opportunity to improve the PTP process and develop a plan to resolve.
Collaborate with internal and external team members to improve performance.
Present business plans to corporate partners to enlist their support of process improvement efforts 40%
- Manage Special Projects
Under the direction of the VP, Operations provide project management skills to ensure timely completion of special projects.
Provide status reports and follow-up with project participants (internally/externally) to ensure excellent project results. 25%
Communicates with supplier and 24 Hour Fitness personnel. Vendor communication can include product/pricing negotiation, service level issue resolution, invoice pricing issues, and general questions raised by 24 Hour Fitness personnel. Communication within 24 Hour Fitness primarily relates to business process change and answering inquiries. This position will work with Field and Corporate staff, Procurement, A/P, departmental requisitioners and approvers, Club Operations, Facilities, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Club Integrations, IT, HR, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Solid understanding of purchasing principles.
Background in contract administration and PeopleSoft ERP.
Process improvement experience.
Excellent written and verbal skills required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is a key capability.
Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
- 4-year Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Business Administration.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
4 -6 years' experience of increasingly responsible professional level procurement
1+ year of experience leading a team
