JOB SUMMARY -
As a brand ambassador, a Group Training Coach represents 24 Hour Fitness to members and clients by delivering a well-rounded and positive fitness experience. We do this by providing quality group training sessions, educating members on other beneficial fitness offerings, and building relationships that lead to a committed and successful member base. Group Training Coaches play a critical role in creating a strong fitness community among group training participants that encourages a fun and retains members.
As a fitness professional you are passionate about education and being highly knowledgeable about various 24 Hour Fitness products and offerings. As a Group Training Coach you will not only provide a safe and scientifically designed fitness experience for members, you will also assess the needs of members and connect them with appropriate products and provide recommendations to achieve their overall fitness and wellness goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES Estimated % of Role
Group Session Coaching
Responsible for delivering scientifically predesigned workouts for up to 16 members per session. Provides coaching to multiple participants in a group training setting, as well as individual attention to motivate all members in every session.
Manages time to ensure consistency in product delivery to include pre & post class requirements, starting/ending on time, appropriately cueing transitions, and delivering programing as outlined in its entirely.
Ensures a safe and fun member experience by demonstrating safe and proper exercise techniques and necessary progression/regressions to those with exercise restrictions or to challenge members who can take their workout next level.
Communicates clearly by explaining, demonstrating, and properly cueing each exercise movement for the class but also to individuals as needed throughout training sessions.
Demonstrated professionalism and knowledge by using tools and training provided to ensure a well-rounded fitness experience that includes: Endurance, Strength and Power theories. 75%
Actively seeks feedback from members after each session/class.
Handles member concerns promptly and appropriately or directs members to the appropriate club manager to assist.
Teaches safe and effective classes that are inclusive of various fitness levels and abilities by providing individual coaching in a group setting.
Encourages members to track achievements and goal progress by utilizing body scanning technology on a monthly basis. Provides encouragement and recommendations based on measurements.
Builds relationships with members to support individual fitness goals and ensure consistent usage of 24 Hour Fitness products and services.
Delivers on the Service Promise of Clean, Friendly and Well-Maintained Club by racking weights, team cleans and assisting with maintaining a clean and organized club. 15%
Build and Retain Member Base
Well versed in a variety of 24 Hour Fitness products and services including pricing, schedule and details to be able to support member fitness goals through a well-rounded usage of products.
Builds member base by engaging with members and inviting them to participate in various product offerings.
Retains members by providing individual support through exhibiting strong teaching skills, connecting with every participant, and safely coaching to the abilities of a wide variety of fitness levels.
Promotes classes, current promotions, challenges, and other 24 Hour Fitness products to help increase class attendance, engagement, and encourage multi-product usage.
Educates members and builds value while promoting 24 Hour Fitness product offerings including: Group Training, individual sessions, GX classes, etc..
Participates in continuing education to maintain primary fitness certification and participates in required education and supplemental certification offerings.
Shows passion for getting involved in various 24 Hour Fitness products or services including: teaching new or different group formats, providing individual training sessions, conducting fitness assessments, delivering consultations, etc.. 10%
Reports to the FM and will interact with all levels of club staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understand principles of fitness theory and proper exercise technique.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a 1-on-1 or group setting.
Ability to adjust and operate fitness equipment.
Ability to safely perform a variety of exercise movements.
Demonstrate excellent customer services skills.
Minimum Educational Level/Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
AED w/ CPR
Degree in a related field or current certification through at least one nationally accredited industry associations.
Current fitness certification from an education company approved by 24 Hour Fitness.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
1+ year of experience as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and/or group coaching.
Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, jumping, kicking, and prolonged standing and walking.
While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the environment is occasionally loud.
Extended workdays are a frequent occurrence, as are weekends and holidays as needed to support the business.
